The client

ThoughtShift is a multi-award-winning digital performance marketing agency specialising in SEO, PPC and paid social for retail, travel and wellness brands. Twice winners of the CIM Digital Marketing Excellence Award and rated by Google in the top 3% of UK agencies, they're a team that runs on data and holds themselves to it. If anyone was going to demand more rigour from their audience intelligence, it was them.

The opportunity

We identified ThoughtShift had two interconnected problems:

  • Personas built on old assumptions and clients in general, not the most profitable or successful ones. Their existing audience segments were constructed from experience and instinct, not enough interrogated data. Good enough, until you're trying to justify spend or scale.

  • No reliable way to pressure-test content before it went live. Copy decisions across paid media ads, website, LinkedIn posts, all campaign creative. It always came down to internal and client opinion and post-published results, an expensive feedback loop.

The approach

We started where most AI projects don't, with the data ThoughtShift already had. CRM, web analytics, social and email data were synthesised to identify real audience segments: who they actually were, how they behaved, what motivated them. Those segments were validated with the people who know customers best, the sales and production teams, then rebuilt into evidence-based personas that reflected reality rather than assumption.

From there, we brought those personas to life as Virtual Voices: AI simulations that ThoughtShift's team could interrogate in real time. Instead of debating internally whether a headline would land, they could ask. Instead of waiting for post-campaign data to tell them what worked, they could test before committing budget.

Once validated, the system was handed over in full, with documentation, playbooks and a training session so the team could run it themselves. ThoughtShift now uses Virtual Voices across paid media, website copy, LinkedIn posts and all campaign creative. It's not a one-off tool. It's part of how they work.

The results

25% improvement in Google Ads CTR following launch of AI-tested messaging.

Beyond the paid media number, the bigger shift was operational. ThoughtShift's team moved from debating copy internally or just "getting something out" to running it past a simulation of their actual audience. Faster decisions, less revision, more confidence at sign-off leading to more brand engagement and leads across all their marketing channels.

What this means for you

ThoughtShift didn't just get better ad performance. They got a permanent answer to the question every content team faces before hitting publish: will this land?

If your team is making content decisions based on internal consensus and hoping the analytics prove you right, Virtual Voices gives you a faster, cheaper, more reliable feedback loop, before you spend.

What ThoughtShift have to say about us

"What struck me most about working with Unbroken AI wasn't the technology, it was how deeply they understood marketing. They asked the right questions, focused on what would actually move the needle, and delivered something we now can't imagine working without. Our Google Ads CTR improved by 25% from the first campaigns we ran through Virtual Voices. That's not a pilot result. That's what happens when AI is built by people who know our business."
